Driver side IFS conversion?

Looking at the colorados they have a Driver side diff drop, from the pictures I've seen the driveshaft just barely squeezes through the cross-member(If I remember the name right) from my understanding the hummer's "crossmember" is wider, looking at pictures that is.

The 7.6 isn't exactly the strongest differential out there, I plan on doing a T-case swap if a driver side drop is possible here. I have read somewhere that removing the T-case in the h3 will cause the ABS and TCS to fail? I was hoping a 8.25" will fit, maybe even a 9.25" being able to fit a locker or LSD would be nice. I plan on pushing over 600hp. I could do a solid axle swap but I really do not want to cut up or weld the frame. This is a very ambitious idea which will certainly not work more than likely

SAS is the best way to go. All the hard work has already been figured out. Your wanting to venture into a mod that might end badly and gain you nothing but headaches. More power to you if you have the ability and patience, but if you are looking for strength and durability, SAS.

as much as I'd love to do a SAS, I really do not want to weld and cut into my frame, as any mishap there is permanent on top of that I do not like the huge lift from a SAS and in my opinion tires sticking out past the fenders is a absolute sin. From my understanding, at least from what I've been told. the SAS is incredibly expensive?

I think you're getting into chop chop territory. Either SAS or custom IFS. there just isnt enough room to do what you want. I say chop it up and make it exactly how you want.

Question regarding the project - is this strictly a street vehicle or are you looking for off road gains as well? If strictly street, a custom IFS could be interesting and would be a better ride. But, as covered above, it would likely be more difficult than an SAS.

Steering rack stops a driver side drop from working unfortunately. We already tried that and it would not clear.
Really? from my understanding the front end on the h3s and colorados are fairly similar, I believe both run the same steering rack, that is a shame though. I really do not want to go down the route of a SAS for a stronger diff..

I lied, for some reason the photos I was looking at were 2nd gen colorados, not sure why I thought they were 1st gen.

Anything is possible with time and money, I think for what you are trying to do, you're going to have to cut and weld something, nothing will just bolt in. As far as SAS cost goes.....12-20k depending on what axle (s) and other parts you throw at it.
FWIW on my first SAS my tires were only about 1.5 inches past the fender give or take.

yeah I think my best bet is just going towards atvspeed4's dana44 IFS and a custom T-case
