CV shafts with lifetime warranty?

I know a lot of you guys have probably heard enough questions about these. My understanding is that only the OEM ones will stand up to any kind of real use, and my experiences with cheaper ones have confirmed this. I actually thought all the cheap ones were pretty much the same, but i was poking around on e-bay and see these. Cheaper shafts with a lifetime warranty.
Anyone have any experience? I need to start changing my own!

Lifetime warranty might equal installing, failing, removing, waiting on a new part, installing, failing, removing, waiting on a new part, installing, failing . . .

I had to get an O'Reilly power steering pump with a lifetime warranty once. Lasted seven days. Pulled it out and was able to replace it with OEM.

As for CV axles, never had an OEM simply fail. Boots would fail, grease would eject, but I didn't break any. Had a few failures on aftermarket ones.

TRQ is a recognizable brand. Jmho but reviews have not always been kind to this product line. Recommend read a few at the jungle store.
I personally chose Detroit Axle 86G_AXx2 and from personal experience found them okay but lacking. There on my 08 H3 gfb. I'm pleased enough if they last but as stated a part that fails and needs replacement over and over is no bargain. Not implying it will but all the same if finances permit, I'd go for acdelco oem gm.

Problem is that when (not if) they fail, you will have to remove them, ship them back, wait for them to authorize the warranty claim, wait for the replacement, etc. They also state that the warranty covers only the cost of the part; which suggests that you will have to pay for shipping of the replacement part.

I would not buy those, only by looking at them, they will not fit 100%. Looks like cheap and not 100 fitting. I've had only one from ebay, never again... it was for SAAB an some other 4x4 but NOT for H3 or GMCs.

I’m on a set of duralast lifetime cv axles. They’ve been to Moab twice, sandhallow, the rubicon and numerous Arizona trails. Only needed to swap them out because the inner cv seal surface at the differential seal pitted out.

Granted, I am easy on the pedal unless an obstacle requires more skinny pedal.

I ordered 2 Duralast CV Shafts. At half the price of GM shafts and the above feedback it seems like an acceptable risk.

I used the code DEALS4YOU and got 20% off and free shipping. $212.90 top my doorstep.

Seems like most of us have boot failure not joint failure.

I'll let you know how it goes.

Since we're on the topic of CV axles and Joints the good idea fairy has visited. In my previous life this usually resulted in the liberal application of high explosives.

I'm thinking of adding a stretch-over CV boots over the factory boots as a protective/sacrificial layer.

Thoughts? Should I also add a bit of CV Grease in between the 2 boots?

I'm going to clean up the old CV shafts/joints, re-grease and re-boot them as trail backups anyway so it seems like a no-brainer.

Let me know what you think!!!

Thanks,

Matt

Agreed, this will mostly get driven by my youngest son at college. I just don’t trust that that’s gonna get done often enough. He has a lot on his plate!

The parts manager at the GM dealership told me they've been having much better luck with the NAPA ones than the ones from Lordco. I'm guessing some of their customers dont want to pay $600 per shaft either.
This is my first go-round with this job and I had no idea how easy it is. 4 nuts removed, re/re, bingo-bango-drive away. Lol.
$190. Canadian + 15. for the seal

Very good news, can you share that parts store please? Thx
This was at NAPA in Powell River B.C.
This one weighs 19.5 lbs, if that means anything.

I am glad that went so well. I'm not sure if I should be doing something with the old axle. Does anyone know an easy way to tell if it's an OEM one?
