Hi from Louisiana! Traded Tacoma for H3T, few questions to get started:

Hi all, just traded my Toyota Tacoma for an '09 Black H3T and looking to get started with it!

I am looking for yall's input on two things to get started:

1. 1"-2" Leveling Kit without compromising ride quality.
It rides great now and I'm looking to keep 33"s on it.
Is there a kit you would recommend/not recommend?
How high would you go?

2. Tires: It came with two LT285/75/R16 Bridgestone Duelers A/T infront with 65% tread in front and two new Michelin road tires which i plan to replace in the rear.
Question is to just get two new Bridgestone Duelers or is there a better brand for ride quality/more mpg/longer life? The two that already had to be replaced throws up a red flag.

Goal is to have a level/agressive look that rides well.

You can lift your front end by turning the torsion bar. All you need is a few jacks and a socket set. No level kit needed.

I'm running 35" tires. 33" inch tires are great. You can save on gas and it won't rob much power if any from your engine. As for tires it your persional preference. I wanted to go aggresive so i went with MTR with kevalr side wall.

1. I would not spend money on any leveling kits. Just crank the torsion bars and get extended bumstops

2. I ride one 33' 305/70R16 Duratracks. Great performance off-road and in the snow. Plus very quit compare to other MTs

Welcome to the forum. Other aggressive tire options are BFGoodrich Mud Terrain T/A KM2 and Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac. Both ride fairly quiet at first, but the KM2s will get louder as they wear. The KM2s are mud tires and are better offroad, but they are not siped and are average in snow, ice and standing water. The Duratracs are A/Ts and are better if most of your driving is on pavement, with occaisional offroad use. They are better in snow, ice and water.

I think what prob happened is the front is out of alignment, the tires wore out, the rears were moved to the front and new rubber was put on the rear... just a guess

I'd crank your T bars some, then go get an alignment and then decide if you want to run 33's or 35's once this rubber gets low or you find that you don't like the tire

I recommend cranking the torsion bars in the front, extended shackles in the rear, and 35" tires. If you ever decide to play, you'll wish you had the 35's.

My T, and what I'd recommend if you wheel (I know you just asked about leveling and tires, but....):
T-bar crank - never did get around to extended bump-stops, just crank, align, and go.
315/75/16 Duratracs - nothing wrong with sticking with 285/75/16, better in many ways, but I work from home so no commute and the compromise is worth it to me.

Hunner skids (still in the box, but I'll feel better about the rocks after I get them put on) - search the forum for more info.
brush guard (you could call it more for looks, but I do sometimes drive narrow trails so it helps. A full replacement winch bumper + winch would be better).

Glad you are replacing all four tires at once as with our full time 4WD, running different size tires can increase wear and tear on the drivetrain.

Welcome from Colorado. I'm also new here to the forum and my 06 H3 base, only a few months. First thing I did was get tires, 285s, then I seen what these things can do and started my mods. After levelin, crankin my Tbars to 23 1/2" also new front shocks and 1/2" bump stops. My tires look to small and I found myself wantin a bigger tire for the look and the traction. Found myself slidin down some rocks and I didn't like that. Yes there was gravel in the big rock I was drivin down, still didn't like it. I think a bigger tire would have helped? Alotta good info here and advise. Good luck

Thanks for all the great info. Over the weekend I went ahead and cranked the T-bars up 3 turns each and the front left and front right measured to 23" and then settled at 22 5/8 after driving it a little (started at 21 1/2"). I am happy with the height and ready to get an alignment but they told me they would only have the factory specs for an alignment and not a raised front end.

Does anyone have or know where to find the alignment specs for a lifted front?

I can definitely feel the difference in the ride, a bit more bouncy. The ride was perfect before. Will the alignment help with this or should I also look into some shocks?
