thanks to replies, we ordered pass lock part, new ignition, relearned it to vin and still nothing but then smelled electrical burning so disconnect battery again, checked BCM it was charred, now waiting on that new part to be cloned, is there anything anyone knows for us to check out before installing this BCM, its expensive part and I certainly don't want it frying too.

Any indication why it was charred? Getting too much voltage? Frayed wire? Have you had the alternator tested and is the internal voltage regulator working properly?

Charring/burning is typically a direct short somewhere. I wouldn't plug a new expensive part in until I was confident that I found that short.

For GOD'S Sake don't drive it. I got a bad alternator from AZ (output was 20v) and it lit-up my dash like a Christmas tree. Went back to AZ to talk to their 'electrical specialist' and suggested the BCM was corroded. Take it out and clean it, if that didn't work swap it. What they don't tell you is the BCM & the dash BOTH track your mileage & if the numbers ever don't match, your odometer will never turn again. Some crap about mileage scamming on used vehicles.

I haven't put a single mile on my vehicle since 2017. And by the way, GM Service will match the new BCM to the rig, but there's a good chance your mileage clock is screwed anyway unless all components are brand new.

Hey everyone, we checked for shorted wires, put new BCM on vehicle, thankful it started everything works as it should, but still reading security code, and NEW issue is you turn the key to on position vehicle starts without being cranked to start. Wow, what is causing this?

easy for you to say, I called mobile mechanic, and he could not get but one code, the Chevy dealership is outrageously priced, starting at $175.00 an hour to diagnose, and was told it may take days to figure out issues, then parts, and labor to repair. I for one do not have thousands to put into this vehicle. I will be trading it off as soon as we figure out recent issue.
