Damn Casey. I had a used one in my attic when you were here last month.

I've gone back and forth on doing water to air or air to air. After seeing the one in that jeep I at least want to go through the exercise of trying to see what will fit. The general plan would be to put the intercooler where the radiator is now and then stack a custom smaller radiator behind it with a single electric fan. I want the used radiator so I can design legs to fit into the factory radiator supports and also to include the mounting tabs and bolt hole locations so the condenser can mount to the intercooler like OEM.

I could get a cooler to fit in front of the condenser, but that would kill any a/c efficiency which I need here in the south. In addition, there is really no room to route intake tubes if its out front.

I know you're against "custom mods"... but I would not hesitate to dump the H3 radiator entirely and adapt a pre-engineered intercooler/radiator combo (from some other application). After all....no need to build a custom intercooler to run a custom radiator and do custom mods to your H3....when you can buy a package like Patterson's Jeep and save a bunch of headaches. Just open the box...drop the combo down between the condenser and the motor...and mod the truck as required. I think the performance and cost of a pre-engineered unit would smoke anything you could come up with (even though it won't look "factory").
I will be up there today, and I will get some info on his setup.

I spoke Patterson this morning. He said he got his intercooler from Jegs. Just choose a size close to your radiator, and then the inlet/outlet arrangement. He said you probably want a 2" feed. There are also tubing kits that come with elbows, clamps, and such. It might be tough to find the right size but it looks like there are many to choose from....

The H3 hose fittings are 1 1/4". You may need some adapters to fit a 2" hose on your setup. Or maybe I read that wrong.

I think the old, busted one from my '06 is still in my buddy's garage. I'll message in here again, when I hear from him.

You should get the Amazon aluminum replacement ($150) and build your intercooler around it. Then swap your stock radiator for the alum one when you add the cooler.
I can't imagine your stock 300k plastic radiator has much life left. I got a junk one here if you want it.
