Monsoon sub

Okay so not so happy right now about my rattling or blown sub in the cargo of the hummer. For those of you who have the monsoon system or luxury package have you replaced that sub in the back and gone up? Or should i just do the box in the back of the cargo instead of just replacing that monsoon sub i have right now? Id actually like to tear that cover over that sub and see if something is rattling back there or if it is blown is it difficult to tear that side down to reach that sub? (Sorry a lot of questions)

My understanding is that you have the pull the rear wheel well liner along with the trim in the trunk to get to it.

Looks like imma do what others did and take out that sub in the back and put this one http://m.ebay.com/itm/390878250132?_mwBanner=1 in there says it works with our oem amp amp and fits just right apparently the hardest part is actually getting that sub out and thats really not that difficult not too expensive for that sub either I'm referring to this old topic for help

i did the swap. filled the enclosure with a 16oz bag of poly-fil and put the new sub in. it fit perfectly and sounds good.

Yeah when it blows out the cone you'll get some lovely rattles.. Had the same issue with my 97 Range Rover Sub. It's not that hard to remove the interior panels just take your time with the trim. Then I'd just slap in that kicker 8inch into the OEM enclosure and call it a day. For a stock system I think it sounds great!

No. Pretty straight forward. Take the seatbelt thing off with a big torx bit. The little oval cover next to it pops off with a little screwdriver and there's a phillips screw in there. Once you pull those, just tug on the top half and the clips will pull out. That's the top half. The bottom one is a tiny bit trickier... Fold the rear seat down and just start popping clips loose. You gotta wiggle that thing around a little to get it outta the way. Then everything is right there in front of you. Pull the old sub, disconnect the wires, strip em back a little and connect em to the new sub. I got a 1 lb (16oz) bag of poly-fil... It looks like the stuffing that comes out of a stuffed animal when the dog gets a hold of it. White, fluffy stuff. It's cheap. Order a bag when you get the sub. I used the whole bag. Don't pack it super tight and leave just an indentation for the sub... You shouldn't have to jam the sub into the enclosure cause the fill is in the way. Think of a soft fluffy cradle for the sub. once it's done, just tweak the settings on your head unit a little bit and boom. It's not ghetto bass but I do get my mirrors shaking at times. They might shake more if I listened to rap but I don't and never will. Lol.

Nope it sounded perfect, I have a family connection for electronics and upgraded my entire system with a high end setup on the cheap. I actually can't tell much of a difference from the monsoon sub and the rockford fosgate one I replaced it with, and I'm guessing part of that difference was me filling the sub box with poly fill too

What would be better, should i go back to stock and just buy a monsoon 8' or upgrade to the fosgate which one hits harder and would you recommend the switch or just try and find a monsoon and go back to stock. I already found one lol so im trying to decide. Thoughts?

The Rockford Fosgate is better then stock in my opinion. Inexpensive too.

i agree. i think i paid $100 for mine. well worth it. paired with the RF punch 6.75s in the doors, my stereo sounds great.
