Roof Leak - Passenger Side A-Pillar

Went out to my truck this morning to see a drip of water on the dash - looked up and saw water coming down the passenger A-pillar and a slight damp spot on the headliner just above the A-pillar.

Truck does not have a sunroof. I suspect it is the marker lights... anything else I should be looking at up there? What are these "rubber end caps" I keep hearing about? Any suggestions for sealing up the marker lights? Silicone?

I got a break in the weather so I went out with my black RTV silicone and went to town - after removing the passenger side marker light everything looked fine... but the design is just stupid, I would say prone to leak. I removed the grommet and siliconed it down anyway.

Upon closer inspection I think it might be the outer door seal - there was a bit of a gap (noticeable, more than driver side) at the top right by the a-pillar so I siliconed it up to see if the problem goes away... if it does, I will have to start looking for a new outer door seal.

The seal I am referring to looks like #7 in this diagram. Is this a known thing to go?

Mine leaked like a sieve right after we had the windshield replaced. The guy put the trim on backwards or something. Once it was flipped around and gooed up it hasn't leaked. I don't think I'd replace the rubber.
On another note, I found some really awesome goop to seal leaks and glue all kinds of crap back together with, Amazing Goop, I think made by Locktite. The stuff is incredible and found at Wally World and Autozone, so pretty much everywhere.

I went out for a closer inspection today. So far, no more water has made it in the truck... not calling it fixed yet though.

I looked really closely at both sides and the weather strip is just not on very tight - I pealed it back from the bottom of the a-pillar up to the roofline and siliconed it back in place; taking my time and making sure the WS lined up properly on the trim. There is a noticable difference in the fitment now - I'll keep an eye on the water and see if I've made a difference.

Spoke too soon - the leak has reappeared; however, it doesn't seem as bad as it was.

I'm going to take another look at the door seals / weather stripping just to rule that out. My next suspect is the windsheild; I think it was replaced by the previous owner as it has different markings than the other glass in the truck.

Autumn, can you provide any details on a permanent fix? Had the deuce in the rain today and I'm having a similar water drip/leak on the passenger side a pillar.

Still no fix - do you have a sunroof? I would start there.

I'm thinking it might be somehow getting in the roof rails for the cross bars. I'm waiting for a clear weekend to get up there and pull all the plastic molding / rails out and investigate and seal up.

This was happening to me a while ago, I ended up getting new gaskets for something around $10 at Home Depot. Hasn't leaked since, knock on wood. Also, fix it as soon as possible, because I waited so long to do it, the truck gets a real musty smell when it's hot out. Does anyone know how I can get rid of the nasty hot sweaty feet smell?

I don't remember cause it was a while back, but on a clear day I took the dry rotted ones out with me to match the size. They weren't the exact match but it's worked for the past few months. I had to replace the front three orange marker lights.

I just used silicone around the marker lights. They are a common source for leaks, but certainly not mine.

Grab some silicone appropriate for weather (heat / cold / outdoor stuff), tape off around the light on the roof, apply silicone, use finger to "smooth" the silicone, remove tape. Nice, clean application... no more issues with those lights... until you have to replace a bulb!

I just went ahead and replaced those bulbs when i did the gaskets, they were getting dim and i didn't feel like climbing up there again, if i remember correctly the bulbs were cheap
