Bad weather couldn't dampen our passion for wheeling! In SoCal, we had our traditional Black Friday run. The rain was coming down hard at my place in Torrance, but memory recalls having the same weather in 2010 when we gathered to do Cleghorn/2N17X, so I decided to keep the run on. Once I started up the grade, the rain stopped. While fuelling up at Chevron at the I15/138 junction, I ran into a large group getting ready to hit Cleghorn.
We were invited along, but it was only 9:00. I thanked them and drove up to the dam to wait for the others. Of course, the rain started back in right before everyone showed.
We had two H3s (cbetts and Torres Fernando), an H3T (Portager) and a JK (JRWid). Fernando bright along his wife and two others new to wheeling (his baby Daughter and a his friend Sean Paul).
I did not want to get into any bad situations in the mud so I kept the group on 2N17 with the occasional difficult off-shoot.
The last obstacle on 2N17X has changed a bit since our last run. John and Mike couldn't resist the temptation and drove down and back.
I would have had some great video, but I lost my GoPro somewhere on the trail. I was hitting the water puddles pretty hard so I assume that is where it went. Fortunately, it was a GoPro 1. Maybe someone will find it and search around.
On the way back out, we took a few of the more difficult off-shoots and got into a tight area. Everyone made it through unscathed. We stuck to the main trail the rest of the way out. It got pretty nice when the clouds rolled in.
The rest of the drive was uneventful but beautiful!
