why not just have them mount wheels that fit properly?

I blame Custom Offsets for their propaganda on 'stance' for that.

After nine years I wanted to shake things up a bit - looked at hundreds of styles - couldn't find one with seven spokes in silver/chrome/machined - got hooked on Nitto Ridge Grapplers and that was the end of looking for 16s: they only have 265 or 285 in that size.

Wanted a more 3D style without sacrificing too much sidewall - these were the best I could find (that I liked) quickly - when we found out they only had a +15 offset...that we might have to move them out a bit...well that brain washing kicked in: "stance".

They're also 'temporary' in the sense they won't last more than two or three seasons with the sort of salt-bath they get subjected to up here.

thinner spacers

Yes. I seem to be able to run with this. Will do an alignment and then we'll have some time to work on better spacers to see if we can get a bit more clearance. Pictures later tonight!

Temporary might be a good term to describe the wheel bearings, half shafts, steering rack, and ball joints too with the added stress. Hopefully you used a high quality wheel spacer on a near 3 ton vehicle, lot of shear stress on those lugs.

Should be a good test - all four were replaced this summer.

Might remove the flaps... Do you think they look odd with that offset?

That does not look much worse than mine.

Been running that way since I bought the rig in 2010.

However, I did have to replace the front bearings a couple of years ago IRC.

Wasn't surprised I needed to replace bearings around 136k miles. Could feel them getting incrementally worse. They put up with 33" Duelers for 8.5 years and a fair amount of aggressive driving...I felt bad for them! Front first, rears within a month. Just googled general life expectancy now:

"An average sealed wheel bearing lasts 85,000 to 100,000 miles although some can last as long as 150,000 miles."

Wasn't unhappy with what I got out of them - could certainly tell they were replaced.

You didn't need spacers for those Pro Comp's did you?
