H3 tail light guard mounts

Hi guys,

I bought Steelcraft tail light guards for my H3 some time ago but never got to install them.
I had some spare time yesterday and tried to do so, but had massive problems getting them to fit without scraping on the rear door.
After an hour of trial fitting the passenger side, I got it to fit.
But no matter how I bent the mounts on the driver side, it was always touching the door.

Does anybody else had the same problems?

I am seriously thinking about cutting off the mounts and fabbing my own or getting rid of them and buying the ones from Realwheels (mounted differently), but those are quite expensive, especially with shipping them to Europe.

Anyways, if anybody has experience with this problem or pictures of different kind of mounts, input would be greatly appreciated.

How bad is it touching, you could always grind down the mount surface to where it doesn't hit and spray with some black paint. Also a piece of electrical tape place on the mount where the door rubs will reduce the metal on metal rub for the time being.

Thanks for the idea Justin, but it is rubbing on pretty much the complete surface of the mount.
Grinding isnt possible an tape will be gone in just a couple days.
I got an idea for a different mount already, I'll probably bend my own reweld them.

Sometimes it helps not thinking about it for a day or two.
