I have a feeling my truck has some weatherstripping thats not for the h3 as near the tops it certainly isn't snug against the corners and leaves a small gap(unless thats normal) Could not tell you the part number on it though
So far I believe I've read every documented sas swap.
As for a driver side diff I plan on using a awd t-case mated to a 6l80e, as the stock h3 tcase won't fit on a 6l80e.
Well, after a lot of decision making I have decided to do a solid axle swap. I've decided to go for a driver side diff looking at used dana44s they seem to range in the 3-5k range.
I've never built a solid axle myself but it seems you can buy a housing off ebay/amazon ( I can't say I know how...
There is a Colorado build out there running a 8.25" front diff, they did have to use a very custom oil pan to make it fit. I'm currently really torn on that or doing a solid axle swap. I'm not insanely confident on cutting up and welding my chassis (not like I can just go find a new one) and I'm...
Suppose you could just warn about the issue and highly recommend installing new bushings, I'm going the way of a 8.25" front diff swap currently so I can't say I'd buy one, unless you could get it in a driver side variant
Well I'll be going with the 8.25" it is then. My new 3d scanner arrives in a couple weeks and I'll start on designing Diff mounts.. Coil overs should clear the front half shaft
Huh, well I might reach out and just keep my ECU and harness to simplify things instead of pulling a alpha harness, ECU and BCM off my donor. The only thing I will need is the cast iron diff, hoping it doesn't explode with 500+ HP :| I really want to swap in a 8.25" but I don't know if I want...
I recently discovered a company that will modify your harness and reflash your i5 ECU to become a V8 ecu/harness, is this legit, didn't know this was possible due to odd things going on with GM OS compatibility and such (I have a 09 E67 ECU)
if thats the case I think I'll just fix up my junker...
I intend on using the AWD T-case (NP149) out of a escalade along with the 6l80e and L92, however I'm cheap and I miss driving a noisy v8 so I'll probably end up going with a 27 spline output shaft to work with the stock system until the front diff or T-case explodes, then I'll do a driver side...
Yeah, there's certainly a lot of custom work they did. Originally I intended on doing a modified transfer case that allows it to be ran passenger side, but then you still have to deal with the factory front diff which isn't the strongest.
SAS is certainly not something I'd like to do so I'll...
Interesting, they ran a stock trans pan. Maybe the transfer case they used is bigger and allowed the driveshaft to clear, and in the case of coil springs, I have a 2wd 2010 colorado, it has torsion bars. Which in that case I doubt the factory coil springs would clear front half shafts anyway...
Well it was a 2WD colorado so no TC, they used a aftermarket ECU anyway and the AWD transfer case has 0 electronics anyway. They used a front IFS diff out of a GMT900, no solid axle.
I'm just trying to understand how the factory T-case on the colorado/Hummer clears the passenger side torsion...
Looking at swapping in a driver side front differential from a GMT900, I've seen it done in the colorados however they deleted the torsion bars and made a very custom weirdly shaped oil pan. Whats different on the driver side about the torsion bars that the transfer case wouldn't clear?
