Well Happy New Year, Chris! I do look very much forward to the progress on the kit when it arrives - I know the anticipation must be killing you! Hang in there! I have a great deal of respect for you, and all youngin's my age for that matter, who have mechanical know-how. Perhaps someday I'll be able to obtain some good knowledge...until then, I'll keep an eye peeled for you (and others') handywork!:cheers:

thanks for the kind words hans. I appreciate it! Sometimes the best way to jump into the world of learning is real life application. Get with a friend who knows whats going on or go to a shop that is working on barney and ask if you can watch. Before you know it you will be doing it yourself. Get the right tools though! My biggest limitation was the lack of basic tools. I now have purchased most of what I need and add when need be. Just give it time and you will do this stuff yourself.

This is over in the skids thread as a reply to someone, but thought I would edit it for this thread and stick it in here.
This is a set I cut off for a T with the Rancho springs.
I talked with "albh3t" in Attica about his concern that the front spring hanger skids are a bit close using the Rancho springs. I suggested using a thin blade grinder and trim them.
Then "gldn Eagle" wanted a set and he runs a Rancho on a T. I replied to him.
I think there are at least 3 people with H3's and 1 or 2 with H3T's with the skids that have the lift. I can ask that in my skid thread and see what they all think. I am in Arkansas and just drove up to Attica Indiana to the BadLands offroad park to meet about 15 Hummers. With the rancho on a T we thought the way the Rancho springs sit that the skid for the front hanger might could be cut off an inch or so to give more clearance at full droop. That was with the old style before I angled it back more, which might contact sooner. We discussed using a thin blade right angle grinder to do so. This stuff is really hard and a sawzall eats up about three blades to do that, I tried it. Shoot me some pictures both ways and I will post them on my sponsor threads to show what you did. I would not want the spring to hit that skid. I designed it for stock but when people started running disconnected anti-sway bars back there I had to slope them more. I want you to be happy with them and this will be a good chance to see if I need to change them for Rancho setups.
I cut 1 inch off and reshaped it. If you cut yours and post up some pictures of how this looks with the Rancho springs and it seems to solve the issue and allow more clearance I may just have them all made that way in the next batch as I have seen others with the OEM springs think it needs more room. At some point though it will defeat the purpose of making a skid for that area if you hang up backing into a rock to get that better line. Just another MORPH of the product, trying to keep up with all the mods people are making, like disconnecting the anti-sway bar. Pulling the springs to install Rancho springs or to have your OEM re-arched is still a concern as I have not actually done that. I thought with my original design there was enough room to lift and pull out the front end of the spring. I will know someday because I will probably need to do that. You will find out first when you pull the OEM springs if you have to cut the skid first.

Agreed. I wanna see him use that extra spare on the rack after the lift is on. Pretty soon, we will have to rename Squeaky to Hamster Jr. :giggle:
I want to see him loose the extra spare!!! The CoG is way too high for my liking.

The spare will only leave if the COG is substantially worse. If so then ill probably sell the rack and get a regular ranger. I will be keeping an eye on COG but once I add bumpers front and rear with a winch or two along with some more weight down low I feel it will cancel out. The rack has come in handy a lot and I will always have a fullsize rack up top. Along with some other future plans I feel it will all work out and if not then I revise
