The spare will only leave if the COG is substantially worse. If so then ill probably sell the rack and get a regular ranger. I will be keeping an eye on COG but once I add bumpers front and rear with a winch or two along with some more weight down low I feel it will cancel out. The rack has come in handy a lot and I will always have a fullsize rack up top. Along with some other future plans I feel it will all work out and if not then I revise

I didn't say anything about your roof rack. I was only talking about you're spare spare which is about 6 feet off the ground.

You know if you get in trouble, I'll be one of the first ones pulling on the tow strap to keep you from going over, But what if there isn't time to attah a tow stray? When it comes to safety, I profer to use an analitical approach over trail and error. Use the spreadsheet that I provided the link to and calculate the CoG for stock vehicle assuming a 36 degree rollover angle (I found a South Africian site that claimed 36 degrees, so that is a starting point). Then adjust the CoG for to account for a rack and a spare and calculate how much the rollover angle changes. If you need help just ask!

Also, look at the video that cbetts posted from last chance canyon. Look at how much I rolled versus how much you rolled. The difference is very illuminating.

ill check out that video, and I do appreciate and know that you will be right there to help. If I lose the spare I really want to change racks, I hate that bare look. I may even go with a stealth, or just stick with the ranger. Not really sure yet. All stuff I gotta think about, it leans and its noticeable. Sometimes learning can be expensive. The amount I have learned in the past year (since I got the rack) has been insane. The rack is something I would change. I feel like for overland 2 spares is perfect or rockcrawling not so perfect lol

Hopefully after work today but just got a call that a fellow wheeler that lost his lower control arm mount to his front axle....so who knows if I can start today.

I learned one thing, when I didn't know anything everyone will help you get ur stuff done asap but when u know and help others you never get own stuff done lol

Sorry I am dragging this out guys! I do apologize. I was originally going to start tonight, I have one buddy ready my other friend said he can't till wens night. I am also going snowboarding tomorrow and dont wanna rush an install, be up till 2-3 am and get up to snowboard early tomorrow. I did make some progress. I took some measurements of the truck. Total height, Front skidplate, diff skid height, end of the a-arm (by balljoint), rock slider height, back bumper, front bumper, hub to fender front and rear, spring hanger skid height, gas tank skid height, transfer case UCP skid, Front diff crossmember height, Gas tank crossmember height, and the transfer case crossmember height. It is all documented and I also took notice of what is in the trunk how much gas I have and the PSI in the tires so the measurements can be accurate. I also marked the spot where I took measurements so I can drive back to the same spot.

So I do apologize for dragging this out but I wanna do it right and not in a rush, the install will start around 5-6 on wens. night go till whenever and be finished thursday if not finished then get an alignment and wheel it by thursday night. I also have Jan 21st off work so I want to do a run then to get some testing and get a feel for it off road.

Anyone who wants to stop by and see the install (scooter and sierra mentioned it) let me know. Sierra I called you today from the 516 ny area code.

Don't rush it, Chris. Do the install when you're good and ready. Sounds like you are on top of it though. I know a lot of folks, me included, will be very interested in the before/after measurements. -- That and we like to see lifted H3s! :wink:

I agree with Hans3T, plan out a safe, quality upgrade, and most importanly, enjoy it! I spent yesterday repairing major appliances and upgrading my AV equipment. Not as much fun as working on a Hummer though!

Got everything out and ready to put in the front lift parts tomorrow. I would have gotten more done but a guy up the street stopped by with his H2 asking about a front left popping noise from the front end and that took up about 45 minutes of our time.

I also have videos of a good and bad balljoint. I know where the popping noise was coming from now haha. I am lucky I found this now and not on the trail. I dont have work tomorrow so I am going to start in the morning and work all day on it and then my 2 friends are gonna stop by and help me with the rest. It finally hit me that the rancho is going on and I am now pumped! Checked the hubs too and they are good.

Bebe if you read this I have a question for you. I have an extra balljoint I can use and replace with mine but the LCA I bought from you for the right side seems to have a brand new balljoint...How new is it? I may just swap out LCA's if its still a new one.

Update! Going a bit slower, by myself until this evening. Got the diff drop brackets in...before I bolt up the axle I will take out the steering rack bushing and drop in Hunners fix for it.
